Picture the opposite, and you've got the band Girl in a Coma, a trio of young women with tattoos decorating their arms, vibrant crimson painted on their lips, jet-black hair and eyeliner to match. Groundlings prove comedy is all about teamwork

Los Angeles' premier improv comedy troupe, The Groundlings, premieres its latest production, "Groundlings: Swimsuit Edition," on Friday night.

For more than 30 years, a theater on Melrose Avenue has seen comedians come and go, each of them leaving a mark on a Los Angeles tradition. Founded in1974, the Groundlings has established itself as a premier force in improv comedy.
